This sublime unfinished Gothic church was founded in 1347 by Charles IV, the Czech king and German emperor, as a
coronation church and the Carmelitan monastery church. The presbytery was finished in 1397, then the
construction stopped and the church was never finished. However, it is the tallest church in Prague (33 m).
Its main altar, built in 1649-1651 in Early baroque style, is the tallest in Prague as well.
The church is neighbouring a nowadays Franciscan monastery and a calm Franciscan Garden.
